Who we are

Afya microfinance Limited (AMIF) is the microfinance institution with registration no.93301 promoted by APHFTA for the purpose of providing financial services to the Private health sectors in Tanzania.

The desire of APHFTA to establish AMIF was prompted by study conducted with various stakeholders in the health sector including IFC, Dalberg, Bienmovo etc. The study confirmed an open and significant financing demand gap among private providers of health care services due to nature and locations of the businesses. The study also identified challenges facing providers of private health care while trying to access financial services to formal commercial banks and financial institutions due to various factors including lack of formal collateral and high outreach cost especially to rural population where more than 70% population reside. Afya Microfinance Limited has proved to be a solution not only for private health sector to access affordable loans but also has made beneficiaries to provide improved quality healthcare services to a large number of population at reasonable price.

AMIF’s target markets are Accredited Drug Outlets (ADDOS), Dispensaries, Clinics, Health Canters, Hospitals, Pharmacies, Laboratories, and any other private provider of health care services.

Currently, Afya Microfinance Limited Operates in its two zones which are Southern highland zones covering five regions Iringa, Njombe,Mbeya, Rukwa and Katavi and Dar es Salaam Zone covering three regions Dar es Salaam, Coastal and Morogoro.

Afya Microfinance Limited plans to access providers of private health care services in all regions of Tanzania focussing lower end facilities especially those based in disadvantaged area.
